FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

"How do I join?"

In order to be considered, you must come to at least one open recruitment event. There is no way to join without going to a recruitment event (i.e. no online application, no interview, etc.)

"I'm going to be late and/or I need to leave early, is that okay?"

Yes! In order to be considered, you must come to at least one recruitment event for any period of time. No worries if you are late, you can come any time during the time period listed! 

"I can't go to one or more of the events, can I still be considered? 

Yes! In order to be considered, you must come to at least one recruitment event. However, we recommend coming to as many as you can in order to meet as many brothers/sisters as possible. 

"I missed fall recruitment, but I'm still really interested in DEM, how can I get more involved?" 

Email us at demvirginiatech@vt.edu and we will add you to our email list. Also, please come out to our philanthropy event, Day of the DEM, in October and meet some of the brothers/sisters. Additionally, we will hold a spring health related event so you should come to that as well! 

"Do you have a spring or informal recruitment?"

No.  We only have recruitment in the fall. 

"What are your recruitment events like?" 

Our recruitment events are very laid back and casual. No need to wear business casual/professional, just yourself and a positive attitude! It is really just about meeting and getting to know new people, members and non-members!

"What do you look for in a Potential New Member? How do I get in?" 

We do not look for anything specifically, it is all about how well you get along with members and whether or not DEM would be a good fit for you! We recommend talking to and getting to know as many brothers and sisters as possible. 

"Where's the application?" 

In order to be considered as a potential new member, you must come to at least one recruitment event. After all of the open recruitment events, a percentage of the attendees will get invited to Closed Recruitment and an interview, where more information will be given and an application sent out.
